Our college essay writing camp will help your rising Senior get their college essay done early and in a fun, interactive workshop that will teach them valuable writing skills to boot! We’ll brainstorm topics, learn strategies for effective introductions, practice writing with vivid detail, and learn how to compress and expand narratives to tell stories effectively. Students will leave the camp with a solid rough draft, improved writing skills, and a handbook with writing tips and strategies. Students who are daunted by the idea of writing the college essay will find encouragement, guidance and camaraderie in our group workshop--and hopefully have some fun too.
This course will
- Provide students the structure, guidance and schedule to complete a rough draft of their college essay
- Help students brainstorm creatively about a college essay topic.
- Use dynamic exercises and an interactive workshop structure to teach writing skills such as effective introductions, description, and narrative structure
- Give students plenty of time to write, rewrite and practice
- Provide supportive, constructive feedback to each individual student
- Provide a handbook with models, tips and reference tools that students can keep as a writing resource
