Adult Writing Courses and Coaching
Our adult writing courses are taught in an interactive, collaborative workshop-style setting, with a minimum of six and maximum of fifteen participants per course. We offer creative writing workshops, as well as professional writing workshops and writing courses for people who just want to explore their creativity and write as a hobby.
We welcome students from every walk of life and at every stage of the writing process. Our writing courses provide a mix of inspiration to help you generate new ideas, instruction to help you hone skills, and feedback to give you encouragement and guidance. We will be adding more adult writing workshops and courses as we grow.
If you prefer to work with an instructor one-on-one, or you have specific goals for your writing, a writing coach can tailor sessions to meet your own project and needs--whether that is honing your creative skills or learning to write in a professional context. Please contact us to see if a writing coach might work for you.

ADULT COURSES
Morning, Writers!
Classroom Hours: 40 minutes
Price: Free/Donation
Session I: October 17- December 1 Weekdays (Monday-Fri) 7 a.m.- 7:45 a.m.
Virtual
Having trouble getting your morning pages written? Or just plain making time for writing? How would it be, first thing in the morning, just to sit down and get it done? Starting the day off writing establishes an important priority, orients you in a creative direction and just plain feels good. This class is not really a class, in the sense that there will be no instruction. We’ll just be here every weekday morning to create inspiration, space and community for shared accountability and creativity. You’ll log in, share your writing goals for the day in the chat, have 30 minutes of dedicated writing time, and at the end, we’ll share in the chat how we fared. In the spirit of community, this course is offered freely, although we will humbly and gratefully accept donations to keep it running.

Memoir Writing: Tell Your Story
Classroom Hours: 6
Price $150
We all have a story, many stories. Has anyone ever told you you should write a book? Or do you need support and inspiration for a current project? This workshop-style class will look at models of memoir writing and provide exercises and feedback to fuel your writing project. We’ll cover topics such as how to identify the “real” story, truth vs. fact, developing a voice, managing narrative time, and the various structures that memoir can take.
Edit Anything
Classroom Hours: 2
Price: $50
Whether you need to polish up a work report, review a collaborative project for colleagues, or make your scientific thesis readable, editing and revising are essential phases of the writing process. How do you make them work for you? This two-hour seminar will teach you basic revision techniques to increase the readability, accuracy and efficiency of your writing.
Moving Beyond Writers’ Block
Classroom Hours: 2.5
Price: $65
Want to tell your story, write that op-ed, draft your family history but keep getting stuck or staring at a blank screen? This 2.5 hour course will give you tips, strategies, practice and moral support to break through. We’ll start with an understanding of the writing process (which, contrary to popular belief, is not heavenly inspired) and introduce you to a few practical strategies and support tools that will keep you moving forward. By the end of the course, you will have made progress on that dream project.
Ready to Write: Poetry
Classroom Hours: 6
Price: $150
This course will focus on a rotating selection (instructor’s choice!) of model poets to read and topics to inspire your poetry writing. Weekly readings and writing assignments will challenge you to explore poetic techniques such as sound, metaphor, form, syntax and line, etc. This class is great for poets of all levels, whether you want to get started, create new content, or be inspired with new directions in your work.
