Jr. Storytellers Write-Your-Book Camp (Jr. Level: Rising 6-9 Graders)
June 16- June 20 — 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
A one-week camp in which your child learns how to write their own book!
Designed for middle-school ages, this camp will guide young writers through a week of interactive and creative workshops that will take them—start to finish—through the process of imagining and writing their own book.
No experience is necessary or assumed. This class will teach the basics of story writing (plot, description, character, scene & world-building, dialogue) and
give students a chance to experiment and collaborate as they bring their characters and world to life.
Whether your child wants to write a fantasy story, a graphic novel, a screen-play, a short story, this course will help them build it and bring it to life!
Students will:
- Learn basic elements of story-telling (plot, description, character, scene setting, world-building, imagery) through fun, interactive writing exercises
- Be guided through the steps of story-writing start-to-finish Receive constructive, ungraded support as they work through the process.
- Explore creatively and have fun with language, words and ideas.
- Develop awareness of and confidence in the writing process.
- Learn writing skills that will translate to academic courses
- Receive a course handbook with writing exercises and tips.
- For interested parents, we will provide information for how to publish
your child’s book!
*Note, this camp will run from 9-3 with a one-hour break (11:30-12:30) for lunch. Students should
bring their own lunch.

refund policy
We will refund Tuition, minus a $25 handling fee, if you email a cancelation request to info@districtwritersacademy.com no later than 14 days before the first Course session. If you cancel later than 14 days before the first Course session, you forfeit Tuition.
- No refunds, credits or rescheduling will be given or made for any individual class sessions missed.
- No refunds will be given for students who do not finish the class for any reason.
- District Writers’ Academy reserves the right to cancel a class. If this is necessary, participants will be notified via email prior to the first day of the class, and participants who have already paid will be given a full refund, or credit toward another class. This credit must be used within one year of the original payment.
